Description

LL-37 is the 37-amino-acid human cathelicidin peptide, one of the best-studied antimicrobial peptides. We supply LL-37 as a freeze-dried powder in 5MG or 10MG vials.

What is LL-37?

LL-37 is cleaved from the human cathelicidin protein hCAP18. Its name comes from its length (37 residues) and its first two amino acids, two leucines. It forms an amphipathic alpha-helix, a structure common to membrane-active antimicrobial peptides.

As the only cathelicidin found in humans, the peptide is a reference molecule in innate-immunity and host-defence peptide research.

LL-37 in published research

In-vitro work has examined its activity against bacterial membranes and biofilms, its interaction with lipid bilayers and its effects on immune-cell signalling. The peptide is also used as a positive control in antimicrobial peptide assays.

Researchers working on cytokine and immune signalling may also be interested in KPV and Thymosin Alpha-1.

Preparation, handling and storage

LL-37 is shipped as a freeze-dried (lyophilised) solid. Lyophilisation removes water at low temperature and pressure, which generally makes a peptide more stable in transit and storage than a solution. Before use, the powder is reconstituted with a diluent chosen by your protocol. Common laboratory options include bacteriostatic water, sterile water, dilute acetic acid or a buffered saline such as PBS. Add the diluent slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently rather than shaking, which can cause foaming.

Keep unopened vials sealed, cold, dry and away from light. After reconstitution, refrigerate the vial and mark it with the date and concentration. For longer storage, keep the product frozen, as printed on the label. Where your protocol allows, divide material into aliquots to avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.

Ordering from Alpha & Omega Peptide

Every listing on our site shows the compound, strength, format and product reference (SKU), so it is simple to match what arrives with your lab records. We describe each item factually, without claims about effects or outcomes, and we answer product questions by email rather than offering usage advice. You can add reconstitution and handling supplies such as bacteriostatic water, acetic acid solution, PBS and mixing syringes to the same order from our lab supplies range. Frequently asked questions

What strengths of LL-37 are available?

It is available as 5MG or 10MG vials. Select the option you need above the add-to-cart button; the price updates to match.

How should LL-37 be stored?

Keep unopened vials sealed, cold, dry and away from light. Once reconstituted, keep the vial refrigerated and, for longer storage, follow the frozen-storage note on the label. Record the product reference and the date opened in your lab notes so results can be traced back to the material used.

Is LL-37 for human or animal use?

No. It is supplied for laboratory and in-vitro research only and must not be administered to people or animals. We do not give dosing, administration or medical advice.
