Description

PE-22-28 is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide derived from spadin. We supply PE-22-28 10MG as a freeze-dried powder in a sealed vial for ion-channel and neuroscience research.

What is PE-22-28?

Spadin is a peptide released from the sortilin propeptide and is studied as a blocker of TREK-1, a two-pore-domain potassium channel. The shorter analogue corresponds to residues 22 to 28 of that propeptide region and was developed to retain TREK-1 activity in a smaller, more stable molecule.

Its short, defined sequence makes it straightforward to produce synthetically.

PE-22-28 10MG in published research

Published studies, mostly in mice, have examined the spadin analogue in TREK-1 channel assays and behavioural models used in depression research, as well as hippocampal neurogenesis. These are preclinical findings in defined models.

Preparation, handling and storage

PE-22-28 10MG is shipped as a freeze-dried (lyophilised) solid. Lyophilisation removes water at low temperature and pressure, which generally makes a peptide more stable in transit and storage than a solution. Before use, the powder is reconstituted with a diluent chosen by your protocol. Common laboratory options include bacteriostatic water, sterile water, dilute acetic acid or a buffered saline such as PBS. Add the diluent slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently rather than shaking, which can cause foaming.

Keep unopened vials sealed, cold, dry and away from light. After reconstitution, refrigerate the vial and mark it with the date and concentration. For longer storage, keep the product frozen, as printed on the label. Where your protocol allows, divide material into aliquots to avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.

Ordering from Alpha & Omega Peptide

Frequently asked questions

How should PE-22-28 10MG be stored?

Keep unopened vials sealed, cold, dry and away from light. Once reconstituted, keep the vial refrigerated and, for longer storage, follow the frozen-storage note on the label. Record the product reference and the date opened in your lab notes so results can be traced back to the material used.

Is PE-22-28 10MG for human or animal use?

No. It is supplied for laboratory and in-vitro research only and must not be administered to people or animals. We do not give dosing, administration or medical advice.
